John Grah, FACHE

John Grah, FACHE, serves as a Managing Principal for Chip Caldwell & Associates. John brings senior healthcare leader experience with a proven history of success in enhancing organizational performance and the deployment of advanced quality methods. Using his experience as a CEO, John coaches executive teams, managers, and physicians in the use of Lean-Six Sigma and the 100-Day Workout Method. John's practical approach stems from over 20 years as a hospital CEO in organizational settings ranging from small rural hospitals to tertiary urban facilities. Using principles of Lean-Six Sigma, PDCA and the 100-Day Workout, John was singled out in the Good to Best in Healthcare research as one of the country's top CEOs for driving quantum improvement.
John has utilized advanced quality methods to reduce length of stay by more than 20%, increase patient volumes and revenue by more than 25%, and achieved top quartile productivity benchmarks through workflow optimization. John brings a diversity of experience in care settings including hospital operations, clinic management, and multi-hospital systems.

Prior to joining Chip Caldwell & Associates, John served as Corporate Vice President for the Scripps Health System in San Diego, CA. In addition, his experience included serving as CEO of Scripps Memorial Hospital in Chula Vista a 173 bed disproportionate share acute care hospital providing care for an extremely high number of uninsured patients. John also served as administrator for Scripps Memorial in La Jolla. Before joining Scripps Health, John had a long career serving in numerous senior leadership roles in the Appalachia Regional Healthcare System.
John's formal education includes an MHA from St. Louis University and a Bachelors of Science, Business Administration from the University of Missouri.
